VolNet Marathon Gunjur - Newspaper Article (Englisch)

GUNJUR. Last Saturday afternoon VolNet Gambia e.V. organized a marathon for adults and children with the motto “bringing youths together through sports”. The marathon was prepared by the members of VolNet Gambia and also by three german volunteers.  

Starting point for the five kilometre distance was at Gunjur Kaninlai Mosque at Brikama Highway.

After start at 4 p.m. the twelve motivated participants passed Turntable and were running to Jujuba Junction. From there, they were going up to Benna Kunda, the place of VolNet Gambia e.V.  

The hot temperatures did not bother the participants and after less then 30 minutes the first arrived Benna Kunda.  

Also many kids were part of this marathon. They were starting at Jujuba Junction and also running up to Benna Kunda. 

After arriving the finish, everyone got something to drink and a certificate. A DJ ensured for good

vibes.

At the presentation ceremony the winners were honored with prizes. Taslim Jabang took first at the men and Mam Jarra Drammeh at the women.

They got some money, a VolNet T-Shirt, a medal and a certificate. Also the second and third on both, men and women, took part of that ceremony.

Ousman Ceesay, activity coordinator of VolNet Gambia, was after the marathon very happy about the performance of the participants. He hopes that next year more starter will take part of the VolNet marathon. All VolNet members were also thankful for all participants.
